Flavor Notes: The Mari Vineyards 2016 Chardonnay brings forth buttered toast and ripe apple notes. Nice, soft Northern Michigan acids from malolactic fermentation meet supple tannins. This wine finds balance between toasty and fruity, never veering into the movie-popcorn-butter territory.


Suggested Pairings: This is a great food wine! Anything sautéed will go nicely — think mushrooms, zucchinis, potatoes, root veggies, pasta primavera, etc. For your protein, try freshwater fish.



  • Fermentation: Both Primary and Malolactic  — underwent MF in the barrel on its lees with a stir every week for 6 months (this helped create creamier textures and nuttier flavors)

  • Barrel Aged: 10 months total in French Oak — 80% in 3-4 year old barriques, 20% in newer demi-muids


Cellaring Recommendations: Drink now through 2021
