TASTING ROOM MANAGER
Mari Vineyards is seeking a flexible full-time Tasting Room Manager (40+hours/week average). We are seeking a self-starter who has the ideas and drive to assist in the continual success of our Tasting Room on Old Mission Peninsula. Candidates must be professional, articulate, hard-working, strong leaders who can handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for and oversee day-to-day floor operations in the Tasting Room, coordinating and working with other Tasting Room Management. Tasting Rooms require an outgoing, well organized, self-motivated and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer’s experience.
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room which includes tastings, visitor relations, tours, staff performance, wine club members, and internet sales
- Oversee opening and closing duties, checking off completed tasks
- Assist with scheduling, training, supervising, and motivating Tasting Room Staff
- Assist with educating staff on current offerings and the greater wine industry
- Inventory management of wine, retail merchandise, and tasting room supplies
- Handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers, and accounting for daily sales. Ensure that cash accounting is correct and complete at the end of the business day.
- Ensure Tasting Room Staff are given the correct cash tip out total at the end of their shifts
- Assist with managing daily wine and apparel shipments to customers
- Be a highly visible presence on the Tasting Room floor for both guests and staff
- Help to foster a positive hospitality environment at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum two years successful management experience, ideally wine/hospitality related
- Passion for wine and customer service with a strong wine knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, Docs, & Sheets. Proficient in or ability to learn WineDirect POS & ecommerce systems.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, move, or walk for extended periods of time
- Reliable transportation
- Year round, full-time availability
- A love of Michigan Wine and knowledge of the Traverse City area preferred
- 21 years or older with a valid Drivers License
Compensation
PAY - $50,000 / year

TASTING ROOM SERVER
We are seeking self-starters who have the passion and drive to be a part of the continued success of our Tasting Room on Old Mission Peninsula. Ideal candidates will be interested in wine, outgoing, organized, self-motivated and disciplined individuals. Full and Part time seasonal positions are available. Ideal candidates will have availability into the summer/fall seasons, with possibility of year round employment.
Duties & Responsibilities of Mari Vineyards staff will include, but may not be limited to:
- Be the first face greeting guests, and assist in directing & answering questions regarding our winery, tasting room, and kitchen/food program
- Be professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly with all guests.
- Perform wine tastings and assist guests with wine purchases
- Serve both small parties and large groups
- Provide table service to guests, including wine, flights, and food
- Accurately use the point of sale system to transact sales and maintain tasting room inventory
- Answer questions about, promote our wine club, process sign ups, and assist in packaging
- ID guests to ensure each is of legal age to consume alcohol
- Ensure tasting room and inventory areas are clean, neat, and stocked at all times
- Perform housekeeping of tasting room, restrooms, patios, storage, and break areas
- Perform opening and closing checklist duties
- Attend mandatory staff training
Qualifications of an ideal candidate include, but are not limited to:
- Wine appreciation & desire to continually learn
- Must have strong verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate product information to guests
- Ability to provide consistent hospitality while communicating Mari's mission
- Ability to establish priorities and work independently
- Interpersonal awareness and relationship management skills
- Strong organizational ability, exceptional attention to detail, and follow-through
- Availability to work holidays and weekends through the end of fall, and extended hours in order to complete the job
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to stand, move, or walk for extended periods of time
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
- Availability through mid-November 2022 preferred
Experience
- 1-3 years of hospitality, winery, or server experience preferred
- Must be 18 or older
Compensation
- $10/hour base pay (with tips, peak season hourly rate ranges from $22 to $30)
